Red House Music Academy - Michael McKenzieMichael McKenzie
Guitar Teacher
"I’ve had amazing music teachers in the past that have helped shape who I am as a musician. I feel that’s it’s important to pass along that same inspiration."
Michael grew up in rural Alberta, in the quiet town of Medicine Hat.

His pursuit of all things guitars and rock n’ roll, involved moving to Edmonton for a brief stint at Grant Macewan College in Edmonton, a Summer in Vancouver, 3 years in Calgary teaching, playing music, and - ahem - partying, and ultimately, ending up here in ’94.

Toronto ended up becoming home, after years of traveling and touring.

Our Goal

Most of the teachers I’ve meet seem to agree that to become a good teacher, you’ve had to have great teachers in the past.

I was fortunate to have a great guitar teacher growing up, and he opened my eyes and ears to the amazing world of guitars and music. I wouldn’t be the same person without this experience. His patience and understanding of the instrument left a lasting impression on me, and I try to leave this same impression when I teach.

Private lessons are the most effective way to really learn an instrument. The half-hour lessons are designed to give the student enough stimulation and information for a week of effective practice.

"The teacher generally provides what you NEED to learn with a little of what you WANT to learn."
